Neyer has always been complimentary of Biggio in the sense of comparing him to 2nd basemen of all time. If I recall the article going into 2003 you mention, I think that was spurred by the fact that Biggio had a relatively down year, offensively, in 2002. A lot of people were wondering if Biggio might be headed toward a precipitous decline. Luckily subsequent years proved that wrong. My recollection is that Neyer has also been relatively positive on Bagwell's chance for the HOF.
