I mean today for example, we had Berkman in LF only because Lamb was at 1st. We had Palmeiro starting in RF for Lane .. with Burke and Lane getting days off.

But on mostly every other day when we have Berkman at 1st base and Burke in LF .. I think I rather just say Palmeiro get the starting nod in LF.

Sure, I like seeing Burke get a shot .. but fact is, we are at .500 now and starting to become a playoff contender for that wild card .. we can't afford to have a young guy like
Burke, an inconsistent hitting infielder no less .. playing LF.

Sure he hasn't played much in the majors and you want him to get experience but we don't have that luxury if we are to keep contending for that wild card. Having 1 rookie in Willy Taveras get the job done in CF has been a huge blessing though.

But Willy T isn't the one who is a former infielder converting to the OF as a rookie. We all saw how Biggio a proven vet needed time to adjust going from infield to outfield, so a guy like Burke naturally will struggle out there at times .. but his defense has been good enough in LF, and at times, quite good .. but Burke's hitting is a problem for me if he is to stay at LF.

Rather see Palmeiro there or Self called up .. you could even play Lane in LF and Palmeiro in RF. But point is .. these are some of my concerns ...

All of this is a moot point of course, if we were to go out there and add an Adam Dunn, Moises Alou, or Matt Lawton to play LF for us down the stretch.
