Two things I hated about the Dome:

ASTROTURF! Thank God for baseball played on grass! REAL grass! The un-realistic hops, and rocket grounders on Astroturf I hated, and to even watch a game on replay of turf games are just plain painful for me to watch. The jarring on the feet and knees, not to mention the torn-up knees while trying to make a cut on carpet are enough to keep any baseball purist saying, "What WERE they thinking?"

The cavernous feel and echo of the place! Had to be the most un-real place for baseball to be played, and watched. Or maybe it was just the nature of the Houston sports fan; satisfied with sitting politely, listening to the echo at a game with a small audience, just happy to be in air-conditioned comfort. And how many long flyballs hauled in at the base of the wall would've been HR's anywhere else? "Warning track power" was NOTHING in that tin can.

The Astros just plain LOOK better at MMP, playing in a venue with so many grand vantage points; NOT walled off by huge black doors separating the concourses from the field of play. Sign me a MMP fan! ...but I'm MORE happy to stay home and watch it on TV, with my OWN refreshments and beverages, and enjoy Brownie & Jimmy D and Instant Replay.
