Not saying it was the right thing to do (hindsight 20/20 and all), but the idea was that Scott would get to see more fastballs over the plate by hitting in front of a super hot Berkman. It doesn't look like a good move, but then again I guess Garner had no way to know that the Phillies would not give in to Scott. The crazy thing is that Padilla threw him more change-ups than fastballs in tonights game. That shows that their (Phillies) advance scout must have really liked what he saw from Scott over the last two series vs. the Reds, and Cards.

One other thing that might have made Garner feel good about the Scott in that spot was all of the fastballs right over the plate Burke got hitting 3rd (he went 3-4, with 2 doubles,1 HR, 3 RBI, and 3 R) on 8/21, when Ensberg was given a day off.
