Yes, I would prefer a Berkman/Lane 3/4 combo.... if I am making a line-up without Ensberg absolutely. Just because we won tonight and last night doesn't mean Scott didn't hurt us. We played hard and won both nights and I am not taking anything away from either game but Scott could have cost us. He left 2 on tonight, and went 0-5 with no walks. At least three times he made the final out of the inning with our best hitter coming up behind him. The point of a three hitter is to hit for average and power, drive in runs and get on base so your 4 hitter can let you walk home. Lane was awesome last night in that last AB and he was solid tonight. Hoping people will start to throw fastballs he can hit out is not what you want from a 3 hitter. A 3 hitter should be able to hit mistakes and good pitches. Use the opposite field and hit for power. On a last place team I would say let him get comfortable... we have nothing to lose. On a team fighting for it's play-off life I say if you want him to see more fastballs let him hit behind Willy because if they want to throw off-speed stuff then at least Willy can steal 2nd. I am not trying to bash Scott and I like the guy he just isn't a 3 hitter YET. He may be amazing but he isn't now.
