The Astros can't get too cocky about their remaining schedule. One of the Philadelphia news articles discussing the Astros' remaining schedule, after finishing with the NL East next week, pointed out that: (1) the Astros current record against teams on the remaining schedule is below .500; (2) taking out the only winning team on its remaining schedule, the Cards, and the Astros record is just one game over .500 against the remaining below.500 teams; (3) the Astros have losing records against both the Pirates and the Cubs. In addition, the Brewers are close to .500 and will be striving to have their first winning season in years. Maybe the Cards will feel like they can slack off when we play them next---but that doesn't sound like LaRussa.
So, my point is that the Astros will have to turn their performance around against some of the NL Central teams which have surprised us (like the Pirates and Cubs) in the past, in order to get the WC. They should be able to do that. But the team can't get overconfident.
