I see. Thanks. I disagree that the odds of a one-game playoff are low. We have essentialy a five-team race for the Wild Card all jammed within two games in the loss column starting September. There have been a few one-game playoffs needed lately and I'd want to have a quality pitcher starting that with the season on the line. Plus, if it turns out you win the Wild Card and don't need a playoff, that pitcher can open on the road with Game One of the LCS as Roger did last year.

True, if it's that close, you don't have the luxury of lining up your starting pitching but Garner has enough starters to tweak the rotation again should he find he's got a game or two lead to work with.
