I have heard many, many times in the last six weeks or so that the reason the Reds are not trading any of their top players is because their owner is in the process of selling 51% of the team. I'm not entirely sure whether the holdup is because the current owner thinks holding on to those players makes the team more valuable (probably true) or because the prospective new owner has specifically stated that he wants them to hold on to their top players. If the ownership transfer is settled before the off-season, the Reds may trade Griffey or Dunn at that time. If the transfer is not complete before the off-season, the Reds will be completely hamstrung.
