Ramirez was still 26 short of Hack Wilson's record of 191 RBI. Since I was researching Bagwell's 2000 season, I then wanted to find out which players had scored 150 and driven in 150 in the same season. It has happened only 10 times (since 1900). Ruth in 1921, 1927, and 1930. Gehrig in 1931 and 1936. Joe DiMaggio in 1937. Ted Williams in 1949. Jimmie Foxx in 1932. Chuck Klein in 1930. Al Simmons in 1930. Only Ted Williams after 1937, and nobody after him in 1949.

Right now, he is not on pace for 150 rbi, as his rbi and hr pace has slowed recently, but I would not say that it is impossible for him to reach that mark. If he could reach this mark, he would be only the 7th player ever to do so. Everyone else on the list is a HOFer.

That's a big part of what it takes to get this done. Good teammates, and probably at least one great teammate. Gehrig played with both Ruth and Dimaggio. And all three of those guys were always surrounded with talent. Simmons and Foxx were teammates, and one of the best hitting catchers of all time played with them as well. I think Klein was the only Hall of Famer on his team, but Lefty O'Doul would have been a Hall of Famer with a normal career. He was a pitcher originally but got hurt. He came back years later as a hitter when he was 31 and hit .349 for 7 seasons. That's the 4th best career batting average ever.

Most of those offenses are loaded with HOFers and are known to be some of the best offenses of all-time. Update, after 65 games: 2000, Bagwell: 55 runs scored 2008, Berkman: 61 runs scored Lance is on pace to score 152 runs, which would match Baggy's total. Bagwell picked up his pace a little bit from this point on in the season.

The 2000 Astros squad owns the record for team home runs in the National League I think.
