Only twice over the past 70 years has a player gotten 160 or more RBI: Sammy Sosa with 160 RBI in 2001 and Manny Ramirez with 165 RBI in 1999. Ramirez was still 26 short of Hack Wilson's record of 191 RBI.
Since I was researching Bagwell's 2000 season, I then wanted to find out which players had scored 150 and driven in 150 in the same season. It has happened only 10 times (since 1900).
Ruth in 1921, 1927, and 1930.
Gehrig in 1931 and 1936.
Joe DiMaggio in 1937.
Ted Williams in 1949.
Jimmie Foxx in 1932.
Chuck Klein in 1930.
Al Simmons in 1930.
Only Ted Williams after 1937, and nobody after him in 1949.
