The Chronicle is reporting that Charles Spencer's broken leg has some complications that might end his career.

This obviously changes things as Kubiak admitted to making a mistake by assuming that Dominique Davis (now Dominique Williams) would return from his injury. These two pieces of news indicate two things:
1) That particular admission is the first public statement to indicate that Kubiak is not happy with the current staple of backs. I know this may seem obvious based on the performance on the field, but before then one might wonder if the last five or six games might have given Ron Dayne or Chris Taylor the inside track.
2) Offensive tackle is a much more urgent need before next season. If Spencer does return (they say he is rehabbing hard) to form then the club could get by with Spencer and Winston as the tackles. Now, the club must either acquire a left tackle in free agency or draft one.
This brings us to a couple of obvious questions:
1) Do we target OL in free agency or the draft?
It is clear we need at least a left tackle if not two tackles. Chester Pitts should be solid as one of the guards, but as far as I'm concerned, no other position should be immune from a possible upgrade. Is Flanigan going to return at center? Is McKinney going to return at all?
2) Do we target RB in free agency or the draft?
The Ron Dayne/Chris Taylor combination was decent for the last five or six games, but Lundy and Gado were total zeroes in my mind. Decent also won't get the job done. Are we looking at Adrian Peterson or is there a back available in free agency that would be an upgrade?
This development (in addition to the comments) leads me to believe this club has to focus on the offensive side of the ball this year. Yes, we need help at DL, OLB, and safety, but this offense is clearly in dissaray.

I'm down with OBP (yeah you know me).
