I was reading an article where it was saying how good the 2005 draft was stocked. With 1. Justin Upton 2 Alex Gordon 3. Jeff Clement 4. Ryan Zimmermna 5
Ryan Braun 7 Troy Tulowitzki. 9 Michael Pelfrey 10 Cameron Maybin 12 Jay Bruce As you can see very stocked.
I know its hard to draft people because you dont know how they will pan out but this post is just showing you what Could have happened. This is who we picked and who we missed out on.
Round 1 we picked #24 Brian Bogusevic We missed out on #25 Matt Garza #26 Craig Hansen #27 Joey Devine #28 Colby Rasmus
Comp A we picked #38 Eli Iorg We missed out on #30 - Luke Hochevar #31 Clay Buchholz
Round 2 - #72 Ralph Henriquez (no longer in baseball) Passed up on #73 Kevin Slowey #75 Yunel Escobar
Round 3 - #89 Thomas Manzella (was a solid pick) we also picked #104 Joshua Lindblom (no longer in baseball) and passed up on # 107 Jordan Schafer (#2 prospect for Braves)
So just think if we had selected one of these 25 Matt Garza #26 Craig Hansen #27 Joey Devine in the first round.... thats a Very good SP in Garza, Hansen could start or be a reliver and Devine is good reliever Comp A - Luke Hochevar top prospect for Royals and has been up in the majors #31 Clay Buchholz - we all know who he is Round 2 - #73 Kevin Slowey Good SP for Twins #75 Yunel Escobar Really good SS for braves
if we would have selected any one of these other than our guys we could have some very good Pitchers in our system
