A month ago if you'd have told me that the Astros would be swirling the bowl about to be flushed into the NL Central's sewer, I'd say "not
this team"... What a difference a month makes. It's been kind of spectacular, really, because you can't pin a single loss on any player out
there, that I can remember- with the exception of a few blowout losses, we haven't played THAT bad. That said, I hope everyone else sees that the problem
isn't Bourne, Pence, Matsui, Tejada, Oswalt, Backe, or anyone else on the 25-man roster. I pin the blame on the one wearing #15. His name is Cecil and
was once a power hitter for the Brewers in the 80's. His managerial tactics are questionable, at best. Pence batting leadoff? Wow. The only way this
team succeeds is having:
Borne- CF
Matsui- 2B
Tejada- SS
Berkman- 1B
Lee- LF
Wigginton- 3B
Pence- RF
Quintero- C
Call up Jorge Sosa and Ray King from Round Rock, move Brandon Backe to the BP and demote/designate Oscar Villerreal.
Now is the time for GM Ed Wade to prove his worth. He brought us an amazing offensive package this off season, but our starting picthing is hurting. I
believe it's time you get on the phone with San Diego and offer up for Randy Wolf.
After tonight, should Commander Cecil trot out the same lineup as last night, we'll see the same result, maybe worse.
I actually am rooting for the Astros to lose a few more, say the rest of the weekend to make it at least to 11 in a row so Ed Wade feels compelled to do
something. If, by some miracle, Cecil actually manages to win a few in a row, it'll be a long season in 4th or 5th place.
