Well, as some of you know, Traci graduated from High School tonight.
A semester early, even!
I am so proud of her!
The ceremony was so wonderful! There were only 88 kids graduating, so it was a very personal event. I have been afraid all week that I was going to bawl like a baby at the ceremony. (I had plenty of tissue in my purse!) Flashbacks of her being born, first time she walked, talked, ate food, Kindergarten, etc. I cried when I took her to get her drivers license, so I knew this was going to be hefty.
Five students spoke about the school. One of the students was a girl named Robin. She gave a very moving and inspirational speech. She was great! Then, upon exiting the stage, she tripped and fell down the 6 stairs leading to the floor. Everybody's first reaction was "Oh my gosh! Is she OK?" She popped up and said, "Hey! I'm OK!"
Anybody that knows me, knows I have a thing about people tripping or falling.
It's really embarrassing. I had to cover my mouth for the rest of the ceremony so I would not burst out laughing during the following speeches. Rhonda told me after the ceremony she asked Bobby to see if I was cracking up. She couldn't look at me - or she would have burst out laughing.
So, instead of trying to think of happy thoughts to stop myself from crying, I had to think of sad thoughts to stop myself from cracking up laughing.
Then Traci tripped on the last stair up to receive her diploma! Only she could trip upstairs!
I bought the video of the graduation, so I hope they don't edit that out!
Then, for her big woohoo after graduating, she got her eyebrow pierced.
I took a picture so years from now she'll look back and see HOW FREAKING STUPID THAT WAS! Better than a tattoo, I guess.
Roger would have been proud!
