I think there is a good chance that he get get traded by the end of January. Although he still only played in about 100 games, his value might not be as high as it would be after a full healthy season but its probably as high as its ever been. I really wished we would have traded him to Arizona when they were itching to acquire a quality shortstop and willing to trade Bauer. There are still teams in need of a shortstop and I think we could get good value in return while letting Elmore, (who would be my first choice) Greene, or MarGo fill his shoes. We have Villar prob a year away and Correa a few more away. If you can get some good talent that could help us in a year or two while Jed helps somebody this year, I say do it.
If Jed doesnt get traded, I say give Elmore a try in the outfield, which is extremely weak. He has a career OBP of 380 in 5 minor league season. He doesnt have homerun pop which is easier to get away with playing middle infield rather than LF but he has good plate discipline, gap power, and a little speed. We need players who dont strike out much and can get on base at a good clip. I think he would be a good fit at the top of the order with Altuve.
