I saw the piece on 60 Minutes with Mike Wallace, and the thing that I got out of the Sandy Alderson segment was that Alderson (former GM of Oakland) was really ducking any knowledge of steroid use while he was there with the A's. Now that he's at the MLB office level, he's all concerned about the effects of performance enhancement drugs on the game -- but while at the GM level, how he and LaRussa could have been so blind as to not recognize their players bulking up astronomically is beyond me.
LaRussa especially should have reported Canseco bragging about using them, but with a GM like Alderson with blinders on and earplugs in, he might as well have been screaming with a bullhorn in the middle of the ocean.
