So is Dusty. | ||

So much was going on in that club house with Sammy, and with Prior being hurt that I agree that the Cubs had a rough season...but for pete's sake. Let's overlook the fact that our manager is an Idiot, and We choked, Wait I know, Let's say that the Good guys play dirty. Oswalt is a competitor who like Woods, Prior, and Zambrano will not back down from no one. If the shoe was on the other foot Chicago would be singing Roy O's praises. And if I remeber correctly, Bagwell was quick to tell Roy to pull it in. Let's forget about the Astros winning streak and the fact that the cubs had a huge lead on them, and let's just say they are a bunch of cheaters, aint that right Dusty(the only manager to manage both Barry and Sammy in their careers.) I guess when it comes down to it, He would know a cheater when He sees it.
Darn it. This really ticks me off. |

I am not saying Barrett isn't a loud mouth idiot, but Oswalt did hit someone last year after the person before them hit a homerun, and he hit them out of frustration, not with any purpose or retaliation.
Let's not make this any bigger than it is. A guy blowing off steam. And it might make a lot of sense in his head. But Oswalt isn't as innocent as some of the others. Quote: |

Hey Barrett and all the Cubs...
Tell it to 1-800-Waaaaaah!!! The confrontation with the Cubs did serve as the final piece in the puzzle for the team to pull together and make that increadible run for the Wild Card. The Astros were headed that way anyway, but that series did serve as a catalyst of sorts. "Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the
experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." --Douglas Adams |

I'm not crying - we flopped - you won the Wild Card - END of story
It's a new season. from the above posted article: Quote: This is why I read the Tribune and not the Sun Times. Considering all that is going on, I can't believe that this writer would write that phrase or that his editor/publisher would print it. Besides the juice went to Baltimore. |

Quote: I don't know cubfan, but with all the talk of steroids this offseason, the writer could have used 'pumped' instead of 'juiced' and anyone would have thought the same thing. Sammy "the Juiced" Sosa, gone to Baltimore but NOT forgotten; how much you wanna bet that Sosa & Tejada become this years version of Canseco & McGwire? Jimbob

not much. if you cant see that sosa is declining badly you are blind.
tejada will probably fufil his end of the bargain though (although he doesnt hit tons of home runs). |

[quote]''If they knew what our team had gone through, [the critics] couldn't say that,'' Barrett said. ''It wouldn't have mattered if it pumped [the Astros] up or not. Our team healthy, our team not going through what we did last year, it doesn't matter how pumped up [the Astros] get. We're still a better team.''[/quote]
"Still a better team" implies that Barrett thinks the Cubs were a better team in 2004 than the Astros. Someone let me know when we start deciding baseball champions like they do diving meets and figure skating. ''If they knew what our team had gone through" -- someone should ask Barrett if his dog ate his homework, too. What a bunch of losers the Cubs are. |

Quote: I didn't mean performance wise, bm. Since Tejada has been mentioned also when the discussion turns to steroids, and because Sammy seems to be stuck in denial mode -- as other juicers -- I was talking about the 2 of them being mentioned as this year's version of Canseco/McGwire were for their steroid use, or suspicions of steroid use. ooooooh, i thought you meant they would just be the new bash bros.
probably not though, tejada doesnt hit a helluva lot of home runs, so i dont think people are going to swam over him in controversy. |
