This one makes no sense to me.
Right-handed pitcher Ryan Franklin has agreed to terms on a one-year, guaranteed $2.6 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, baseball sources told ESPN.com.
Franklin, who was suspended 10 days after testing positive for a steroid, went 8-15 with a 5.10 ERA in 190 2/3 innings with Seattle last season.
So you take a guy with was terrible in a massive hitters park (Safeco) who also took steroids and give him $2.6 million??
They traded Padilla because they thought he'd get too much. He couldn't possibly have gotten significantly more than Franklin.
I'd be pretty pissed if I were a Philly fan...
