The Yankees traded for Ron Villone, sending a minor league pitcher to the Marlins in return. The minor leaguer wasn't even on the Yankees 40 man roster, so the Marlins could have selected him in the Rule 5 draft if they really wanted him. I always liked Villone; he is a tough, determined lefthander who either can start or work out of the bullpen. Come to think of it, he might have been a good fit for the Astros...because we don't know if Clemens will ever return and therefore could use a pitcher who has value as either a starter or reliever. I guess the Yanks got their first.
