I am glad to see Taveras leadoff even though he popped up in foul territory his 1st AB in this game .. Biggio wasn't even tagged going to 1st base , terrible ball by that 1st base ump. Bags walks on a full count ( good to see ) reminds me of all those years he use to be a tough out. That strike 3 to Jason Lane was horrible BS as well. It was clearly 2 feet outside.
Anyway, middle 1st 0-0 .. Oswalt better pitch 1 hell of a game tonight. I think we might need to win this game 1-0 if our offense doesn't figure out Oliver Perez. Every other team this season has pretty muched spanked Perez, so why can't we ? I say we can and we will .. GO ASTROS  By the way Bruntlett is at SS  .. I hope Adam Everett's wife does better. Everett stayed with her in hospital in Houston .. so is not with the team.

after one inning i dont think we can say that we have or havent figured out perez yet. we certainly worked him pretty good, so thats a plus so far.
the slider to get lane looked fine to me. his slider has tooooons of movement and if im remembering the pitch correctly he gets that call all the time. |

1,2,3 for the Oswalt .. no surprise .. lets get the bats going .. end 1st 0-0 ... Taveras, Biggio, Bagwell, Lane, Ensberg, Burke, Bruntlett, Chavez, Oswalt is our lineup tonight. Forgot to post the lineups .. sorry hehe .. but yeah Bruntlett is at SS because Everett is with his wife at the hospital in Houston and didn't make trip.

Oliver Perez who was 0-2 with a 9 ERA going into this game is looking like the Oliver Perez of old against us
Astros need a win tonight ... be nice if we can figure out how to hit Oliver Perez at PNC Perez shut us down at PNC last season. We did smack him around at Minute Maid Park. But Astros are 7-2 at MMP this season and 1-8 on road  .. Be nice if we can start to find ways to win on the road this season.

end 3rd 0-0 .. Oswalt has given up a couple of soft singles, one stayed in infield .. Perez hasn't given up a hit .. top 4th lets see if Astros can get a hit, much less, dare I say, a run ?

They just mentioned not too long ago on the broadcast that Berkman went 3-5 with 2 home runs in an extended spring training game in Kissimme.
Good sign that he will be able to produce some offense when he finally gets back up to the big leagues. |

sac fly, 1-0 Pirates ... that could be the ball game unless Astros figure out how to get a hit off Perez in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th .. Perez has showed a little wildness and walked 2 guys so far but Astros are not showing enough patience at the plate. Burke had a 3-1 count and had the green light and flied out on a ball 4.

Thanks Bob. I live on the other side of the world, and don't often see games. I haven't signed up for any of the streamed games because they are played while I am in the office and can't watch anyway. But I can follow Gameday while working.
There won't be any baseball at all on ESPN Asia at least through May 10 (no schedule after that released yet). It used to be that Sunday and Wednesday Night Baseball were both aired here every week from the beginning of the season. Not anymore. Now, there are just games every now and then. Thought of just cancelling my cable. Without baseball, what's the point? |

When I say Astros are pathetic offensively, I mean run scoring wise of course. Team Batting Average the Astros are near the top of the NL. But tonight we don't even have a hit through 5 ..
End 5th, 1-0 Pirates ... Oliver Perez takes his no hitter to the 6th .. DRAMA at PNC .. if Perez goes to 8th and 9th with no hitter, we will find ourselves on ESPN .. look at the bright side .. HAHA |

I did an injustice mentioning Jimenez and Cordova in the same sentence as Perez. Perez is a much better pitcher than those two. Perez is actually pretty good. He should have a good career once he gets out of Pittsburg.
What is wrong with that once storied franchise? They have about 187 people attending the game. |
