I often try to give GMs the benefit of the doubt when it comes to personnel evaluation until they prove to me that they cannot do it properly.
I like to think that dwelling on players that have gone on to do big things in other places preoccupies us much more than it should. After all, we got Jeff Bagwell for Larry Anderson, didn't we?
I cringe when I hear names of players that we let go but I can usually deal with that....until day before yesterday when my son was watching the Twins-Yankees game on TV and they were talking about how Johan Santana was drafted by the Astros and then let go (I think it was)in the Rule 5 draft.
Is it just me or can we field an All-Star team with ex-Astros or ex-Astro farmhands?
What personnel move still gets your goat?
