I understand calling the NFL the No Fun League...and I really like end zone celebrations (I was reared on "White Shoes" Johnsons knee knocking end zone dance.) But I can understand how defensive players might not like a Terrell Owens taking a crap on the Star at Texas Stadium, or Joe Horn calling his bookie to place a bet on the Mon Night Shindig from the endzone.
Here is my idea for the best of both worlds...allow celebrations without penalty, but refuse to call personal fouls if they occur during a celebration. So if the reciever is doing a dance in the endzone, he or the QB is subject to an unpenalized cheap shot. If someone just wants to raise an arm to acknowlege their TD, there is no time to retaliate, but if they insist on 2 minutes of TV time...well they might get the ultimate Late Hit.
Simple, effective, damn entertaining for the fans...much like when pitchers were allowed to police their own...
