it looks like the Astros are going to face their Big 3 +1 whereas the Marlins will only have to face 2 of our big 3. as of right now, we'll have to start 'Zeke & Brando in games 1 & 2 unless Garner decides to throw our Aces on 3 days rest

My suggestion.......
If the stros can win the first 2 against the Brew Crew, then I say skip Roy O's start on Sunday and push him back till Monday. It would give Roy O an extra day off which we all know he could use. Astacio is ready to go any day. You would then be able to pitch your big 3 in the biggest series we have left. |

Just a little observation I have made, and if you want to play along, go ahead, but here are out last 2 opponents:
STL Phili Here are the starters we faced in those 2, 3-game sets: Mulder (Their opening day starter but #2 quality guy) Carpenter (The Cy Young Candidate) Marquis (Their 3rd best pitcher this season) Myers (Phil's #1) Leiber (Phil's #2) Padillia (Phil's #3) See a pattern... Based on what you speculate for what we face from Florida, we are facing their 4 best pitchers as well... Notice that in none of these series are we throwing our 3 (or 4) best pitchers? This is not to knock Garner for setting the rotation, this is just to point out how good it will feel when the Astros take the Wild Card, because not only did they face the teams they are fighting, they faced their best. -Fro

Sorry but Marquis is not even close to being Cards 3rd best...... he will not have a spot in thier playoff rotation.

As long as the Marlins don't sweep, the Astros will still be in good shape. Even if they lost three of four, they would just be one game out in the loss column. A split would leave everything as status quo.

I am hoping Astros sweep Brewers and Phillies take at least 2 out of 3 vs Marlins. That way, the Astros will be 2.5 or 3.5 up on Marlins when we start our 4 game series. Then, us splitting or losing 3 out of 4 wouldn't hurt us much. Of course, the Astros got a chance to put the wild card away and send a strong statement.
Tonight, Roger Clemens will beat Brewers and if Phillies can beat Marlins, we can get our lead to 1.5 games. I guess, taking it one game at a time is good also. ![]() |
