We have all seen this or a similar list in the last few weeks. Here is an update.

I am sure glad we only play St.Louis 2 more times. Of course, we will likely see them in the NLCS if we win the wild card and get past Atlanta in the NLDS.

Wow, those are really unbalanced "end of seasons". Only Washington (who I refuse to believe is still in the race) is playing anything resembling a normal schedule.
Philly's got a huge homestand right now (10 games against us, the Marlins, and the Braves) which isn't off to a great start. The schedule is in our favor and I really believe we're going to win this. Of course, go ask the Cubs what an easy season end means.... |

Well it's quite simple - they're all playing each other. If one of them can dominate the other 3, then we're going to have quite a race with that particular team. But if they beat up each other, then I think as long as we take care of the easy part of our schedule we'll be fine.
It goes without saying the Marlins series is HUGE. |

We still play the cubbies like 8 more times. I don't care what their record is they play the 'stros freaking hard.
But yes, on the whole, they're in very good position scheduling wise. Baseball is life

Not to mention the Cubs seem to be the one team in the league that can master the Cards. They are still dangerous as spoilers even if they aren't in the race. Brewers too.

The Astros can't get too cocky about their remaining schedule. One of the Philadelphia news articles discussing the Astros' remaining schedule, after finishing with the NL East next week, pointed out that: (1) the Astros current record against teams on the remaining schedule is below .500; (2) taking out the only winning team on its remaining schedule, the Cards, and the Astros record is just one game over .500 against the remaining below.500 teams; (3) the Astros have losing records against both the Pirates and the Cubs. In addition, the Brewers are close to .500 and will be striving to have their first winning season in years. Maybe the Cards will feel like they can slack off when we play them next---but that doesn't sound like LaRussa.
So, my point is that the Astros will have to turn their performance around against some of the NL Central teams which have surprised us (like the Pirates and Cubs) in the past, in order to get the WC. They should be able to do that. But the team can't get overconfident. |
