Oswalt seeks to improve 14-0 record against Reds
Cincinnati (62-70) at Houston (70-62), 8:05 pm EDT
HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Roy Oswalt looks to rebound from a dreadful month of August and continue his dominant run against the Cincinnati Reds when he takes the mound for the Houston Astros on Thursday in the finale of a three-game series.
Oswalt (15-11, 2.94 ERA) has battled through dead-arm issues last month and his numbers bear out how much he has struggled. The All-Star righthander went 1-3 with a 5.81 ERA in five outings during the month of August.
The Reds will be a welcome sight for Oswalt. He is 14-0 lifetime against Cincinnati, the most wins all-time by one pitcher against a single team without a loss. Oswalt is 3-0 against the Reds this year, posting a 2.14 ERA in three starts.
After posting a 5-2 victory in Tuesday's series opener, the Astros rolled to a 10-0 triumph on Wednesday to improve to 11-4 against the Reds this year.
Andy Pettitte worked seven strong innings to record the win and Jason Lane highlighted a four-run outburst in the fifth with a two-run homer.
Cincinnati's Aaron Harang (9-11, 3.68) hopes to continue his recent string of success. In nine starts since the All-Star break, Harang is 5-3 with a 2.90 ERA.
In three starts against the Astros this year, Harang is 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA.
