I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but with Garner giving Roger Clemens an extra day of rest and starting him Saturday.
It is becoming apparent what the Astros starting rotation will be in the NLDS vs Atlanta, if we do indeed win the wild card.
First lets look at the final 5 games - Backe at Cardinals, Wandy Rodriguez vs Cubs, Andy Pettitte vs Cubs, Roger Clemens vs Cubs, Roy Oswalt vs Cubs.
And while there shouldn't be any 1 game playoff with Phillies, Brandon Backe would pitch that game if there was one.
But anyway, if Astros win the wild card like I fully expect.
Thiis is what the Astros 2005 NLDS starting rotation would be vs Atlanta.
Game 1 at Atlanta - Andy Pettitte
Game 2 at Atlanta - Roger Clemens
Game 3 in Houston - Roy Oswalt
Game 4 in Houston - Brandon Backe * if necessary
Game 5 at Atlanta - Andy Pettitte * if necessary
So what do you guys think ? I like it myself for various and obvious reasons.
