It seems like that aside from a major injury everything that could have possibly gone wrong this season did. It was bound to happen. Look at what we did the last two seasons. There is some really weird stuff going on. Lidge's ERA, Pettitte's pitching, Roy's number of wins. It seems like almost all the calls are going against us. Guys are hitting bombs off the 93 mph sinker of Chad Qualls and the 97 mph fastball of Lidge. Some weird things are happening, and it was bound to catch up with us. I've never seen an Astro bullpen give up THIS many leads. The only team this decade that I really thought SHOULD have won the national league title was the team in 04 when we had Biggio, Beltran, Bagwell, Berkman, and Kent in the lineup. So there have been a couple years where everyone just played their best and things came together to get us into the playoffs. The person I feel the worst for is Drayton McClane. Guy dishes out over a hundred mil and gets a sub .500 baseball team. I really feel for him, and I'm worried about what it might do to what he does in the future financially. Aside from maybe keeping Huff, I really don't think we'll be doing much in the offseason.
